Three ways in which digital video tours create new value in tourism

From the hotel reception to tourist arrangementthree ways digital video tours create new value in tourism

The modern tourist increasingly rarely wants just a list of sights to visit. They are looking for local stories, personal recommendations and content they can consume at their own pace, before the trip or during their stay at the destination.

At the same time, hotels, travel agencies and brands are looking for new ways to create additional value for guests and travellers, but without increasing the operational burden on their staff.

It is precisely in this space that Tourizzy is developing, a Croatian digital video tour platform that enables tourists to discover destinations through short video stories by local guides and storytellers.

Previous collaborations show that the same technology can be used in several very different ways: as a digital concierge in a hotel, as an additional service included in a tour package, or as part of a brand's marketing activation.

Marvie Hotel: a digital concierge that relieves the reception desk

One of the concrete examples of application Tourizzyja In the hotel industry, it is a collaboration with the Marvie Hotel in Split.

At the hotel reception, a simple QR plaque has been installed, allowing guests to download a digital video tour of Split free of charge. The process is very straightforward: the guest scans the QR code, opens the tour on their mobile phone and receives content that helps them discover the city, its stories, landmarks and interesting locations.

In the first two months of collaboration, the tour was downloaded more than 200 times, with an average user rating of 5.0.

For a hotel, this model delivers double the value. It provides guests with an extra service at no additional cost, while saving reception staff the time they would otherwise spend repeating the same recommendations, explaining routes and answering questions about what to see in the city.

The digital tour does not replace personal contact with reception or traditional tour guides. It serves as an additional tool available to the guest at any time, regardless of opening hours or the current busyness of the hotel staff.

„Guests expect more from a hotel than just quality accommodation. They want recommendations, local context and an easy way to get to know the destination. Tourizzy allows us to offer them an additional Split experience as soon as they arrive, without a complicated process or extra burden on reception. We are particularly pleased that guests rated the experience with the highest score," emphasises Diana Rubić, Director of the Marvie Hotel.

The hotel partner pays a monthly flat fee, while tour guests use the service free of charge and without any limit on the number of downloads. The hotel also gains access to advanced analytics, allowing it to monitor content usage and better understand its guests' interests.

Museum of Illusions: when the museum experience becomes the beginning of a new experience

The second model for applying digital tours is linked to marketing promotions and the opportunity for a brand to offer its audience an additional experience alongside its own product or service.

In collaboration with the Museum of Illusions Zagreb and Split, visitors could access the Tourizzy tour of Zagreb or Split via a QR code after touring the museum. The museum thus offered visitors an added value alongside its own experience – the opportunity to continue exploring the city.

What makes this model interesting is that it doesn't have to be tied to museums or tourist attractions. Any brand wishing to promote its product, service or campaign can incorporate Tourizzy into its communications – via a QR code on packaging, promotional materials, tickets, at an event or through any other customer touchpoint.

„It was important to us to offer visitors something more than just the museum experience. Tourizzy "It has enabled us to connect our communication with the destination and to give the visitor an additional reason to continue exploring Zagreb or Split after the museum," emphasises Kristina Andrić, event manager at the Museum of Illusions.

In this way, the promotion does not end with the presentation of a product or service, but gives the user a concrete reason to interact with the brand. At the same time, the brand gains a new way to connect its communication with an experience that is relevant to its audience.

Tourizzy can thus serve as an additional layer for various marketing campaigns – whether the brand is promoting a tourist attraction, a product, an event or any other service.

Jammark: digital tours as part of a tourist package

Third application area Tourizzyja It is being developed in collaboration with the Jammark travel agency.

From July 2026, Jammark will offer its passengers access to digital video tours as part of its European travel package. Tourizzy tours are included for more than 30 destinations in Croatia and other European countries.

Travellers thus gain an additional tool through an organised trip, enabling them to familiarise themselves with the destination in advance, identify the locations that interest them most, and more easily plan their free time outside the organised programme.

Digital tour It is not a substitute for a tour escort or a guided tour. It enhances the experience and gives the traveller more freedom.

Before arriving, the traveller can watch short video stories about individual locations and decide which places they wish to explore further. During the trip, the content can serve as a personal digital guide for the parts of the day not covered by the group programme.

Such an approach is particularly suited to younger generations accustomed to video content and mobile apps, but its ease of use also makes it appealing to older travellers.

„"Our travellers want the security and organisation of an agency-arranged trip, but at the same time they want a certain level of independence. Digital video tours give them the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the destination before their trip and to independently explore what interests them most during their stay. This is an added value that we can include in the package and offer to all travellers, regardless of their age," says Vedrana Selimbegović, owner of the Jammark agency.

The agency also benefits from the monthly collaboration model, as it can provide its travellers with an unlimited number of downloads without the need to purchase a separate tour for each person.

High production value as the foundation of the experience

Although technology enables easy distribution of content, the quality of the tour itself remains crucial to user interest and satisfaction.

Tourizzy tours are not intended as a dry recitation of historical facts that can easily be found online. Their aim is to convey the destination's atmosphere through authentic local guides, video storytelling and carefully selected locations.

„Our aim is to shape each tour as a high-quality digital experience, rather than a traditional recitation of facts about the destination. We combine local stories, authentic guides and high production values to make the content engaging enough for users to want to watch it before travelling, during their stay, and even after they have returned. This is precisely why the same format can work naturally in a hotel, a tour package, or a marketing activation," he emphasises. Dragan Vejnović, Creative Director of Tourizzy.

This format allows the user to decide for themselves when to view each story, in which order to explore the city, and which locations to physically visit.

One platform, three different business models

Examples from Marvie Hotel, the Museum of Illusions and the agency Jammark show how the same digital infrastructure can be adapted to the diverse needs of the tourism sector.

For Hotel Tourizzy, it introduces a digital concierge that provides guests with local recommendations and relieves the reception desk.

For the travel agency, it represents added value included in the package and a tool that gives the traveller greater freedom before and during their journey.

For a brand, it represents an extension of marketing activation and the opportunity to connect a physical product with a measurable digital experience of the destination.

In all three models, the end user receives the content for free, while the business partner pays a monthly flat fee that includes an unlimited number of downloads and access to advanced analytics.

Partners can thus track various usage parameters, analyse audience interest and more clearly measure the value of the content they offer to their guests, travellers or users.

At a time when tourists expect a personalised, mobile and easily accessible experience, digital video tours are increasingly proving to be a practical link between a physical destination and the way contemporary travellers want to experience it.

Tourizzy continues to develop partnerships with hotels, travel agencies, destinations and brands that want to offer their guests and users an additional digital experience. Interested partners can get in touch with the Tourizzy team to devise a model tailored to their destination, audience or marketing campaign. The app can be downloaded for free via Google Play, the App Store or via the link tourizzy.com/download.
