Croatia: Plava Laguna invests over €120 million, Savudrija Resort opens in 2027.
After the renovation of Hotel Garden Istra, Blue Lagoon continues its major investment cycle by building a new resort in Savudrija. The completion of this project is planned for Spring 2027.
Plava Laguna is currently undertaking an investment cycle worth over 120 million euros. The focus is on the renovation of existing facilities and the development of new accommodation capacities. Among the most important projects is the reopened Hotel Garden Istra in Umag. The future Savudrija Resort is also significant.
Both projects were visited by the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Tonči Glavina, the Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board, Kristjan Staničić, and representatives from Plava Laguna Management.
Almost 500 accommodation units renovated
Hotel Garden Istra has 291 rooms, while the adjacent Residence Garden Istra offers another 198 accommodation units.
The renovations included the rooms, corridors, restaurant, and wellness area. Additionally, the reception area has been refurbished into a contemporary lobby with a bar and terrace. A children's playroom and areas for animation programmes have also been arranged.
Following its refurbishment, the hotel is more strongly focused on families, with a wider range of facilities and activities for different age groups.
Savudrija is getting a new large resort
The second major project in the investment cycle is Savudrija Resort, one of the larger tourist construction sites on the Adriatic.
The new complex will consist of a hotel and Garden Suites, along with swimming pools, a wellness area, family zones, and sports and recreational facilities. The concept is envisioned as a comprehensive resort where the majority of facilities will be available within the complex itself.
The completion of works is planned for spring 2027. The project in Savudrija will further expand Plava Laguna's portfolio and increase its higher-standard accommodation offer in northwestern Istria.
