Air Serbia launches Belgrade–Tenerife, its longest European route

The first flight to Tenerife took place on 15th September with an Airbus A320 and was sold out. During most of the winter season, the route is expected to be operated by an Airbus A220-300, which Air Serbia is using in a wet-lease arrangement with airBaltic. Tenerife and it is the longest European route at the same time Air Serbia and the sixth longest in the entire network.

Demand changed the plan before the start of the winter season

Flights were originally scheduled to start on 27 October, but Air Serbia brought the launch of operations forward to 15 September back in April. Flights from Belgrade will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays, while return flights are scheduled for Wednesdays and Sundays.

Such a move shows that for the market in Serbia and the wider region, the Canary Islands are not just a classic winter charter product. The direct scheduled service allows for more flexible trip durations, individual sales, and the connection of passengers from other cities via Belgrade.

The regional feed is an important part of the calculation. Tenerife has pronounced year-round demand, while the mild climate particularly supports traffic in the months when supply towards Mediterranean leisure destinations decreases.

Spain is becoming one of Air Serbia's major leisure markets

Air Serbia now flies from Belgrade to Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca, Valencia, Alicante and Tenerife. As early as 30 September, Seville will follow, which will become the eighth Spanish destination in the network.

For travel agencies in the region, the new route opens up additional scope for autumn and winter packages without relying on charter operations. For Air Serbia, on the other hand, Tenerife is yet another example of network expansion towards destinations that can generate traffic even outside the peak summer season.
