Vietnam surpasses pre-pandemic international arrival records in 2025
Vietnam posted an exceptionally strong tourism year.. International arrivals reached 21.2 million visitors, with the country significantly surpassing pre-pandemic figures.
The tourism sector is no longer described solely through the prism of recovery. There is increasingly talk of a phase of accelerated growth.
One of the most interesting shifts is coming from the Russian market. The number of arrivals from Russia has almost tripled compared to the previous year. Close to 690,000 visitors were recorded, making Russia one of the fastest-growing source markets for Vietnam.
Analysts attribute the growth to the resumption of charter operations and package tours. Direct air links to resort regions, such as Phu Quoc and Cam Ranh, have further simplified travel and increased the destination's attractiveness.
For Russian travellers, Vietnam has emerged as an alternative to classic winter destinations. The warm climate, competitive prices, and increasingly developed hotel offerings have proven to be a strong combination.
Positive trends are not confined to a single market. Growth in arrivals is also being recorded from India, China, Japan and neighbouring Asian countries. Such a structure points towards a more stable and diverse demand base.
The resort segment is particularly notable. Coastal and island destinations remain the main magnet for international guests. Travellers are increasingly opting for longer stays, with an emphasis on relaxation, wellness, and a combination of leisure and activities.
Industry experts also emphasise changes in marketing strategies. Digital channels and more precise audience targeting are becoming key tools in attracting new guests. Campaigns are relying less on mass outreach and more on the specific interests and habits of travellers.
The outlook towards 2026 remains optimistic. Key challenges remain known – strengthening air connectivity, reducing administrative barriers, and continuing investment in infrastructure.
Vietnam is thus increasingly positioning itself as one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing destinations in Asia.
