TUI Blue is entering European cities: the first hotels are arriving in Seville and Lisbon

TUI Blue is expanding its concept beyond classic resort destinations and entering the European city break segment. The first projects have been announced in Seville and Lisbon, and alongside accommodation, experiences and activities that TUI already sells through its TUI Musement platform will play an important role.

Sevilla opens a new chapter for TUI Blue

TUI Blue Sevilla Suites is scheduled to join the portfolio in late 2026 and, according to TUI, will become the brand's first hotel dedicated to city break guests in a European city. The new property will feature 89 rooms and is located in Vega del Rey, about ten minutes from the centre of Seville. A rooftop pool and a coworking space will be on offer.

Following Seville comes Lisbon. TUI Blue Rossio is opening in early 2027 in the Baixa district, right in the heart of the Portuguese capital. The 30-room boutique hotel is currently undergoing renovation and is entering the TUI Blue network through a franchise agreement.

TUI Blue, which today has more than 100 hotels worldwide, is expanding a model that has hitherto been primarily tied to seaside holidays into the mountains and resorts. The brand has already begun entering urban destinations in Asia, while Seville and Lisbon mark the start of a stronger European push.

The hotel is no longer the only product

However, the more interesting part of the strategy isn't just the opening of city hotels. TUI is trying to link accommodation, in-destination experiences and digital distribution into a single product.

Guests will be able to access recommendations and experiences via the Blue App and local Blue Guides, while TUI Musement already offers more than 200 activities in Lisbon and over 100 in Seville. The offer includes city tours, attraction tickets and excursions outside the city.

A city break becomes a space for vertical integration

For the tourism industry, this move shows the direction in which major tourism systems want to develop the city break segment. The value of a guest is no longer sought solely through hotel nights, but through their entire stay – from accommodation and digital contact to excursions and activities.

The franchise model in Lisbon is particularly interesting. It TUI Blue can enable faster expansion in cities without the need for every new property to be a traditional Group hotel investment. If the concept proves successful, Seville and Lisbon are unlikely to remain the brand's only European city addresses for long.
