The new Railjet line connects Vienna and Bormio

Nova Railjet Railway line established daily the link between Vienna and Bormio, strengthening Austria's connection to the Italian region Lombardy. The journey takes just over six hours and passes through Graz, Klagenfurt i Villach, offering travellers a comfortable and visually attractive alternative to air and road transport.

This line is part of a wider initiative to strengthen the geographical, economic and cultural links between Austria and Italy, with a strong emphasis on sustainable mobility and tourism development.

A comfortable and picturesque journey through the Alps

Railjet offers a modern travel standard: spacious seats, free Wi-Fi, and catering. The route passes through alpine landscapes and picturesque towns, making the journey itself part of the experience. For leisure and business travellers, this means a reliable, comfortable, and efficient connection between key urban and tourist destinations.

As an energy-efficient form of transport, Railjet reduces emissions compared to flying, responding to the growing demand for green travel. At the same time, better accessibility in smaller areas along the route encourages a more even distribution of visitors and strengthens local economies.

Traffic is flowing daily. The maps are available via Austrian Federal Railways i Trenitalia. Early booking is recommended during peak seasons for better prices and availability.
