SAP Concur to discontinue Direct Connect with Southwest: A new phase in airline ticket distribution
Concur Travel is officially ending its long-standing integration with Southwest Airlines via direct connection this month. All users will be redirected to Global Distribution Systems (GDS) alongside Amadeus, Sabre and Travelport. This move comes after Southwest adjusted its fare structure and is increasingly shifting content to GDS channels.
Southwest is known for its unique distribution model – for years, they sold their flights exclusively through their own channels or via special direct links with corporate tools like Concur. Now they are changing their approach: all fares – from the most affordable to premium options – will be available via GDS. This gives agents and companies simpler and clearer access to bookings.

While airlines seek ways to retain control over prices and channels, customers and agents are increasingly seeking simplicity and a complete offer in one place.
