New Cycling Route: Sarajevo – Dubrovnik; tourism for adventurers and nature lovers
Soon, cyclists will be able to enjoy a new route connecting Sarajevo, Mostar and Dubrovnik. The path will be 350 kilometres long and will pass through the most beautiful parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The project was launched by the HerzegovinaBike Association and the Visit Konjic agency, with financial support from the European Union. The aim is to connect the region's three key destinations and promote sustainable tourism.
The route will pass through Bjelašnica, Lukomir, Visočica, Glavatičevo, Boračko Lake and Rujište, connecting Sarajevo with Mostar. From Mostar, it will follow the famous Ćiro trail to Dubrovnik. This route offers a unique opportunity to explore the natural beauty and cultural landmarks of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The development of the trail will take place in two phases. The first phase includes a tour of the route, mapping, recording promotional materials, and setting up cycling markers. The second phase covers the creation of a website, marketing activities, and the organisation of promotional events.
This project has wider significance for tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It will enable connections to smaller local cycling routes, opening up additional opportunities for adventure and rural tourism. The long-term goal is to connect to the EuroVelo network, thus making Bosnia and Herzegovina recognisable as an important cycling destination on the European map.
The President of the HerzegovinaBike Association, Toni Zorić, points out that this cycling trail will help develop local communities, attract foreign tourists, and promote sustainable tourism.
The Sarajevo – Dubrovnik cycling route is expected to become one of the most important attractions for cycling and nature enthusiasts in the region.
