Mozambique is introducing a new visa and ETA approval system
Mozambique has implemented a new online visa and electronic travel authorisation system. The changes are effective from 13 February 2026 and apply immediately. Passengers and agencies should pay special attention to deadlines and costs.
Travellers from the UK, USA, Canada and most EU countries who require ETA approval must now apply online. Application is mandatory at least 48 hours before departure. The fee for the ETA has increased significantly. It is approximately $48 per person, instead of the current approx. $10.
The standard tourist visa is also more expensive. The new price is approximately USD 190 per person. Current processing times range between six and nine working days. This may affect short-notice travel.
The new system digitises the entire entry process into the country. The aim is to simplify administration and improve the control of travel authorisations. In practice, this means that most applications are submitted exclusively via the official platform.
Sales partners and agencies are advised to prepare documentation early. Timely submission reduces the risk of problems before travelling. This is especially important for clients who are travelling soon.
