11 September Top business travel destinations in 2025
Global business travel continues to see steady growth, a new edition reveals SAP Concur Global Business Travel Survey for 2025. Despite challenges on the global stage, most companies are not cutting their travel budgets – as many as 89% of business travellers, 93% of travel managers and 90% of finance directors expect budgets to remain the same or increase.
Growth in international travel
Analysis of data from the Concur Travel system reveals that the international volume of business travel in the first half of 2025 increased by 2.6% compared to the same period in 2024. Growth was more pronounced in the first quarter (+4.51%), while the second quarter recorded almost stagnant results (+0.61%).
Although airfares have remained stable globally, there are significant differences between countries. Business travellers from the USA pay the most – an average of $2,675 per ticket, while Japanese travellers spend around $1,950. On the other hand, Italians travel shorter distances within Europe, so their average ticket price is around $719.
Most popular destinations
The United States of America is by far the leading destination for business travel, accounting for 15.3% of all international travel in the first half of the year. Germany (7.71%) and the United Kingdom (7.61%) occupy second and third place, while Canada, France and Spain complete the top six.
Canadian travellers have remained loyal to the US – almost 80% of all their business flights end there, and that figure hasn't changed for years.
When it comes to passengers from the United Kingdom, the US is also number one with a 20.13% share, while Germany and the Netherlands hold second and third place.
Ticket prices and seasonality
Despite increased demand, average international ticket prices have remained almost unchanged compared to last year – in Q1 and Q2 2025 they range between $1,681 and $1,684. However, in the UK prices have risen: in the first quarter by 6.21% (US$1,477 per ticket), and in the second by 7.81% (US$1,460).
As in previous years, the first quarter remains the strongest period for business travel, while the second quarter records an 8.41% decline compared with the start of the year.
„"One thing is certain – business travellers are on the move again. As many as 94% of them consider travel to be important or crucial for success in business, confirming that this segment remains a strong driver of business performance," said Charlie Sultan, President of Concur Travel at SAP Concur.
