From now on and officially: ESTA fee almost doubled – from 30 September 2025, travel to the USA will be significantly more expensive
Od 30 September 2025. travellers to the United States will have to pay 40 US dollars for ESTA authorisation, instead of the previous 21 US dollars. The decision was made after the US Congress approved an increase in compensation of $19 in July.
The increase will be particularly reflected in Family holidays, because even minors pay the full price. For example, a family of four will set aside £160 only for ESTA application.
In addition, the increase also relates to Land entry – instead of 6 USD, from autumn travellers will pay 30 US dollars.
Validity and exceptions
ESTA remains valid for two years from the date of issue. Passengers with an existing valid authorisation will not have to pay again until their current document expires.
US authorities state that the aim of the additional income strengthening the tourism promotion of the USA at the same time border security. This is intended to provide long-term support for tourism development, but also to cover increased border control costs.
