Grand Hotel Toplice closed until September 2027: Bled renovates its luxury icon
One of the most famous Slovenian hotels has undergone the largest renovation in recent years. The Grand Hotel Toplice in Bled closed on October 1, 2026, and the reopening is scheduled for September 2027.
Grand Hotel Toplice For almost a year, it will not be part of the Bleda hotel offer. Sava Hotels & Resorts has launched a comprehensive renovation of the property on the very shore of Lake Bled, with the investor emphasizing that the goal is not to change the identity of the hotel, but to modernize the product while preserving its historical elements.
The historical character remains, the standard goes up
The new official website of the hotel talks about the „reborn” of the facility and confirms the opening in September 2027., With the possibility of booking stays from September 1st.
The renovation will include the hotel facilities and the energy infrastructure. The Luisa Spa, known for its thermal water from its own source, and the Julijana restaurant, which is also set to reopen in a renovated version during the autumn of 2027, are also closed.
It is interesting that Small Luxury Hotels of the World still states that the renovation will take place until July 2027. However, a more recent official communication from the hotel itself indicates September as the date of the reopening, so the planning agencies should use that term.
Bled temporarily runs out of an important luxury product
For tourist agencies, the consequences are very practical. Grand Hotel Toplice will not be available during the spring and main summer season 2027, which particularly affects the premium FIT programs, honeymoon trips, less group incentives and clients who are looking for accommodation right next to the lake.
Bled continues to have a developed hotel offering, but the Grand Hotel Toplice occupies a specific position due to its combination of location, tradition, gastronomy, and a luxury segment.
The renovation also fits in with Bleda's broader strategy which wants to build tourism with greater added value, longer stays and less pressure on the destination. The Slovenian tourist organization lists the modernization of Grand Hotel Toplice as one of the most important current hotel renovations in the country.
