eDreams expands Prime subscription to rail

eDreams ODIGEO continues to expand its Prime subscription model and entering the railway sector. Train travel is now available for Prime users in Spain and Italy, marking the first step towards a wider European market.

The company describes this move as an important phase in building a comprehensive, AI-powered travel subscription platform. More than 7.7 million Prime members will now gain access to another mode of transport within a unified ecosystem.

The key to success lies in a more flexible payment model. Following pilot projects conducted last year, eDreams ODIGEO has introduced monthly and quarterly instalments for its annual Prime membership. This reduces the upfront cost and removes a barrier to entry, particularly for travellers who fly more frequently but with a lower average booking value.

With the integration of rail, Prime subscriptions now encompass flights, hotels, package holidays, car hire, and train travel. It is precisely the rail sector, as a highly fragmented market, that has been identified as an area where AI technology can bring the greatest added value through a simpler and unified user experience.

eDreams ODIGEO CEO Dana Dunne highlights that expanding into rail travel is a natural progression of the platform's development strategy. According to him, flexible payment models have opened the door to a market worth around 40 billion euros, while artificial intelligence is helping to connect different rail operators into a single user experience.

Early results in Spain and Italy already confirm the model's potential, and the company announces the imminent expansion of its offering to other European markets. For eDreams ODIGEO, this is another step towards strengthening subscriptions as a key model in modern travel distribution.
