Novi tehnološki triumvirat mijenja pravila igre u distribuciji putovanja

The race to implement artificial intelligence within the tourism industry is moving directly from the inspiration and planning phase into the core of transactional systems. Travelport, in collaboration with tech giant Cognizant and AI company Anthropic, has launched a project that should fundamentally change how agencies and TMCs manage bookings.

Entrance advanced AI models into distribution platforms This is no longer news, but this move represents a significant departure from previous solutions. While previous projects have largely focused on the client side – such as the recent partnership between Sabre, Mindtrip, and PayPal, which facilitates the journey from idea to payment – Travelport and partners They are targeting deep into the infrastructure. The focus is on connecting so-called agent artificial intelligence with the processes of searching, pricing, ticketing, and subsequent changes within the Trip Services platform. For the B2B sector, this means only one thing: a shift from theoretical AI assistants to technology that actually executes and operationally resolves complex travel orders.

Trip Services' Backend Code Transformation

The main challenge faced by TMCs and agencies daily is the vast amount of manual work involved in processing travel changes and cancellations. Today's travellers often formulate their requests and intentions through AI tools, but traditional transactional systems struggle to interpret this data and convert it into accurate, confirmed records. This is where Anthropic's Claude model comes in. Due to its ability to analyse vast and complex codebases, Claude will be integrated into Cognizant's engineering environment to drastically accelerate software development and automate processes.

A new technology layer will sit directly on Travelport's platform within the cloud. The aim is to create a system that surfaces relevant options faster, handles modifications and rebookings autonomously, and introduces smart disruption intelligence directly into agent workflows. This will eliminate the communication bottleneck between modern user interfaces and older, rigid back-end systems.

When do the first functionalities arrive?

Travelport is emphasising that this is not an isolated pilot project or a marketing gimmick. Integration into Trip Services is already underway, and the first user-facing functionalities are expected on the market by the end of this year. For an industry where every software bug has direct financial and logistical consequences for travellers, the reliability and control of AI agents have been set as an absolute priority.

The CEO of Travelport, John Mangelaars, points out that the companies responding fastest now are defining the next era of travel tech. In this partnership, the roles are clearly divided: Anthropic provides advanced models, Cognizant provides the engineering power to implement them at scale, and Travelport provides the global infrastructure and network of partners that connect it all to the real world of distribution.
