Trainline and Amex GBT expand partnership into the EU market

Trainline Partner Solutions (TPS), the B2B division of the Trainline group, has extended its ten-year partnership with American Express Global Business TravelAmex GBT) to the European Union. Trainline and Amex GBT are expanding their partnership to the EU market, strengthening their presence.

To date, the collaboration has covered rail travel in the UK, and from the end of 2025, Amex GBT users will have the same access to trains across the EU via their own booking channels.

What does the expanded partnership bring

Corporate travellers will be able to use:

  • fully online booking i after-sales support via the TPS,
  • interactive seating charts and more favourable tariffs SplitSave on UK routes,
  • CO₂ emissions calculation and a comparison of the impact of train and plane travel.

This model, say Trainline and Amex GBT, will allow for simpler selection of more sustainable travel options, which is important for companies monitoring their carbon footprint reduction targets.

Andrew Cruttenden, TPS's CEO, highlighted that the expanded collaboration will “facilitate train travel in Europe thanks to cross-border and journey stitching capabilities, which allow for seamless ticketing across different operators”.

On the other hand, Becky Power, vice president of commerce at Amex GBT, stressed the importance of offering integrated, sustainable solutions:

“Working with Trainline is a major step forward in providing comprehensive rail options across the UK and EU. The combination of advanced booking and carbon tracking capabilities helps our clients make better, more sustainable decisions – without compromising on convenience and efficiency.”

For many companies, business travel continues to make a significant contribution to CO₂ emissions.
