The experiences industry continues to accelerate growth! Expedia announces acquisition of Tiqets

Expedia Group It announced the acquisition of Tiqets, a well-known Amsterdam-based platform for museums, attractions, and cultural experiences. The transaction, the price of which has not been disclosed, further strengthens Expedia's B2B ecosystem and paves the way for a more complete travel offering – from flights and hotels to premium tickets for the world's greatest attractions.

Tiqets, which has been collaborating with leading global museums and attractions for ten years, is bringing products like “skip-the-line” tickets for the Eiffel Tower or priority entry to the Louvre into its portfolio. All content will be integrated into Expedia's APIs, making it easier for partners – from OTAs to airlines – to add experiences to their offerings without their own development.

CEO of Tiqets, Laurens Leurink, stated that the brand will remain separate, while the merger with Expedia will enable expansion through a global network of partners. The acquisition is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2026, following the necessary regulatory approvals in the Netherlands.

Experiences are one of the strongest drivers of bookings in the leisure segment, and the growth of this market is accelerating with the entry of major global players. Expedia has been offering a broad B2B portfolio for years, but without a deep offering of attractions. Tiqets addresses this gap with real-time availability, integrations with cultural institutions, and the ability to sell additional services such as guides or flexible tickets.

This is further proof that the market is moving towards “to my ”full-trip" platform. Trip.com Group recently announced a partnership with Irish company Coras, adding events and performance programmes to its global offering – a segment that strongly influences destination choice.

The acquisition of Tiqets shows that the battle for dominance in the experiences segment is accelerating – and those who first manage to combine flights, hotels, and attractions into one simple booking will have a key advantage.
