Thailand may ask for proof of funds upon entry
Thai authorities have reminded foreign travellers that a valid visa, visa-free status, and a completed TDAC form do not, in themselves, guarantee entry into the country. Immigration officers may request proof of sufficient funds for their stay.
The control depends on the entry method
For tourists with a tourist visa, the required amount can be at least 20,000 Thai baht per person, or 40,000 baht per family. For a visa on arrival, the threshold is 10,000 baht per person or 20,000 baht per family. Amounts can be proven by cash in baht, equivalent in another currency, or appropriate financial documentation.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand emphasises that this is not a new rule, but an existing condition that can be checked during immigration control. The final decision on entry is made by the border official.
TDAC does not replace Visa
All foreign nationals must complete before arrival Thailand Digital Arrival Card. The form is submitted via the official system no earlier than three days before the planned entry, and is also required for children. The TDAC replaces the former paper arrival card, but it is not a visa nor does it represent entry clearance.
Along with financial proof, travellers are advised to have a return or onward ticket, proof of accommodation, and documentation related to visa or visa-free entry readily available.
