LOT Polish Airlines is increasing its presence in the region ahead of the autumn season
The Polish national carrier is increasing its weekly flights to the capitals of Croatia and Slovenia in autumn.
LOT Polish Airlines LOT Polish Airlines has made a strategic decision to intensify traffic towards the Adria region during the key period of late summer and early autumn. From the beginning of September until the end of October 2026, the Polish carrier is introducing additional weekly flights from Warsaw to To Zagreb and Ljubljana. For domestic travel agencies, and particularly for TMCs (corporate travel management companies), this enhancement means significantly greater flexibility when assembling itineraries. It also brings better optimisation for day trips or short business journeys.
More options for Zagreb and early morning return
From 1 September, Zagreb Airport will see an increase from its current 12 to a total of 15 weekly flights under the umbrella of LOT. The focus of this expansion is on introducing new frequencies (flight numbers LO 609 and LO 610). This brings an interesting dynamic to the schedule.
Departures from Warsaw on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays are scheduled for late evening (22:55). This means the Embraer aircraft lands in Zagreb after midnight. Crucially for business clientele, there is an early morning return flight from Zagreb to Warsaw on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 05:30. This allows for arrival in the Polish capital as early as 07:05. This leaves ample time for early morning meetings or early waves of onward connections on intercontinental flights.
Ljubljana gets 11 weekly rotations
A similar growth scenario for LOT is also being applied to the Slovenian market. Instead of the current nine flights per week, Ljubljana will be connected to Warsaw 11 times a week from September 2nd. The additional operations on the LO 621 and LO 622 routes will take place on Wednesdays and Fridays. Furthermore, these operations follow an almost identical logic of a late evening departure from Poland and a departure from Slovenia to Warsaw at 05:30 the following morning (Thursdays and Saturdays). Traffic on both routes will also be operated by Embraer regional jets.
Wider selection for transatlantic and European connections
This move by the Polish carrier isn't just a response to local demand in the region. It also clearly shows an intention to attract a larger share of transfer passengers at a time when the summer tourist wave is transforming into autumn business and city break tourism.
By increasing frequencies, LOT aims to reduce waiting times at its main hub in Warsaw (WAW). This offers passengers from Zagreb and Ljubljana more convenient connections to European routes such as Lisbon, Porto, or Malaga. It also offers connections to key long-haul destinations in the network such as Seoul, Miami, and San Francisco. For agents on the ground, the new options are already visible and available through global distribution systems (GDS).
