Jordan opens its doors to the world: Easier entry, record arrivals and a new boost for tourism

If you are looking for a destination that combines a rich history, strategic development, and concrete measures to attract tourists – Jordan is certainly one of the most significant stories of 2025. The start of the year brought two key pieces of news: major changes to visa regulations and impressive growth in arrivals. For all of us in tourism, this is information worth keeping in mind.

Jordan has significantly eased entry for visitors from a large number of countries. Citizens of the USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Gulf countries and all European countries can now enter without prior approval, provided they have a valid residence permit in the country where they reside, lasting at least four months. Those holding a Schengen or US visa also have the right to enter – even if they have not yet used it.

New rules are already showing results. In the first two months of 2025, Jordan recorded 1,136,000 international arrivals, an increase of 21.5 percent compared to the same period last year. In February, 525,000 foreign guests visited the country, with a notable increase in day visits, which jumped by over 50 percent. Overnight stays increased by 16.6 percent, and tourism revenues reached 910 million Jordanian dinars, an increase of 16.3 percent compared to the same period in 2024.

Such growth is no accident. Jordan has intensified promotion in targeted markets, reinstated direct, low-cost flights, and significantly enhanced its tourism offerings. Additionally, investments are being made in infrastructure and digital solutions to ensure the highest quality visitor experience. All these activities are part of a broader national strategy with a clear objective – to make Jordan a modern, open, and competitive destination.

If you don't yet offer Jordan, now is the perfect time to include it in your portfolio. If you already do – boost your promotions and leverage the current wave of interest. It's a growing market with strong institutional support and increasing accessibility. Jordan is no longer just a destination for history and desert landscapes – it's becoming a serious, modern option for various tourist and business trips.
