Croatia: Deadline for displaying anchor prices and publishing price lists extended

The Government of the Republic of Croatia has postponed the implementation of new obligations related to the imposition of so-called anchor prices and the publication of price lists for products and services. Instead of the previously planned start date, the new deadline is November 17, 2026.

The decisions were adopted at the Government meeting on September 29, following requests from tradespeople, entrepreneurs and retailers for additional time needed for technical and operational adjustments.

The change is also relevant for part of the tourism sector, especially for service providers that operate directly with consumers and are covered by the rules on price display.

The reference date remains September 10th

Although the start of application has been postponed, the method of determining the reference price has not changed. For the products and services covered by the new decisions, the reference date remains September 10, 2026.

This means that companies that have already adjusted their physical or digital pricing structures do not have to re-create documentation just because the date of implementation has been moved.

Food, drink, hygiene products and household products continue to be subject to the previously established reference date of May 2, 2025.

Additional time for business adjustment

For tourism and hospitality businesses that fall under the scope of the new rules, an additional few weeks could be particularly important for aligning prices on websites, points of sale, and other channels through which prices are displayed to guests.

The postponement of the application does not eliminate the existing obligation to possess and display valid price lists when selling products and services to citizens.

The detailed rules will follow later

Additional operational details will be regulated by regulations that will specify the way the base price is displayed, as well as the content and manner of publishing the product price list. Before adoption, the regulations should be submitted to public consultation.

For business entities, it will therefore be important to monitor the final technical requirements, especially if they publish prices through multiple sales and digital channels.
