Croatia Airlines took over two new Airbus A220 aircraft in two days
Croatia Airlines continues to rapidly change the structure of its fleet. On October 2nd and 3rd, two new Airbus A220-300 aircraft arrived in Zagreb, bringing the number of aircraft of the new A220 generation to a total of thirteen.
The first to arrive was the aircraft registration 9A-CAW, which bears the name Karlovac, while the day after the other one was taken over, 9A-CAX, named Sisak. Both Airbus A220-300 aircraft have 149 passenger seats each.
Thirteen A220s are already in the fleet
Karlovac is the twelfth A220 that Croatia Airlines has taken over as part of the renovation project, and at the same time the tenth example of the larger A220-300 variant. With the arrival of Sisak, the number of new aircraft has increased to thirteen.
Croatia Airlines' current A220 fleet thus consists of eleven A220-300 aircraft and two smaller A220-100 aircraft.
The practice of naming aircraft after Croatian cities has continued. Karlovac and Sisak have joined the other cities whose names already bear the new aircraft of the national carrier.
Fleet renewal enters its final phase
The project to switch to the Airbus A220 is one of Croatia Airlines' largest investment and operational initiatives in recent years. In addition to standardizing its fleet, the new aircraft are expected to bring more efficient operations to the company, while offering passengers a more modern cabin and a higher level of comfort.
For the tourism market The capacity that comes with the new fleet is also important. The modernization of Croatia Airlines' aircraft gives the airline greater flexibility in planning its network, increasing frequencies seasonally and opening new routes, especially during the period when the company gradually expands its international offering.
According to the current plan, another new aircraft should arrive in the fleet by the end of 2026.
The project ends with a total of 15 Airbus A220 aircraft
The complete fleet renewal is scheduled for 2027. Croatia Airlines should then have 15 new Airbus A220 aircraft: thirteen A220-300 aircraft and two A220-100 aircraft.
The arrival of Karlovac and Sisak thus marks the entry of the project into the final phase. For the company, the next question will be how to use the new, more uniform fleet to achieve its goals. Further development of the network and increasing capacity in the Croatian and regional market.
