{"id":8618,"date":"2026-03-19T08:00:39","date_gmt":"2026-03-19T07:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tragento.com\/?p=8618"},"modified":"2026-03-19T08:00:39","modified_gmt":"2026-03-19T07:00:39","slug":"japan-is-introducing-a-new-travel-system-with-new-rules-from-2028","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tragento.com\/en\/japan-uvodi-jesta-sustav-nova-pravila-za-putovanja-od-2028-godine\/","title":{"rendered":"Japan introduces JESTA system: new rules for travel from 2028"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Japan continues to follow global trends in travel digitization. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/tokyo\/news\/japan-moves-to-implement-new-pre-travel-jesta-authorisation-system-from-2028-031726\">The government has announced the introduction of a new electronic travel authorisation system \u2013 <strong>Yes <\/strong><\/a><strong>Japan Electronic System for Travel Authorisation<\/strong>, which should be fully operational no later than April 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-sto-je-jesta-i-koga-se-tice\">What is JESTA and who is it concerned with<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This will primarily apply to travellers from countries that do not currently require a visa to enter Japan. This includes a large number of European markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The model is similar to the American ESTA system. Travellers will need to, before travelling:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>complete online form<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter personal and travel details<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please provide your itinerary and accommodation details<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>to pay a processing fee for the application<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Without approved authorisation, it will not be possible to board the flight, even for short stays up to 90 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-veca-kontrola-prije-polaska\">Greater control before departure<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An important change is the role of airlines. Before boarding, carriers will have to check if a passenger has a valid ESTA authorisation. Otherwise, boarding will not be permitted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to data from the Japanese authorities, a significant portion of overstays comes precisely from visa-free countries. ETIAS should enable earlier passenger checks and the filtering of potentially risky cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-dio-globalnog-trenda\">Global trend<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Japan follows with this move <a href=\"https:\/\/tragento.com\/en\/category\/destinations\/far-east\/\">the direction that other destinations are already taking<\/a>. The European Union is introducing ETIAS, while the United Kingdom is also developing its own system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although it is an additional procedure, in the long term, such systems should bring greater security and efficiency to international travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Japan is clearly sending a message \u2013 the future of travel is digital, but also more strictly controlled.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Japan nastavlja pratiti globalne trendove digitalizacije putovanja.
