This trend shows the continuation of demand for <em>live experiences<\/em> which not only attract travellers, but strongly boost local economies across the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-kljucna-trzista-i-njihova-uloga\">Key markets and their role<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An analysis covering 12 European countries\u2014including Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom\u2014shows that <strong>The UK, Germany and France continue to generate the largest share of event-related spending.<\/strong>, thanks to its developed infrastructure and strong international appeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the countries with the fastest growth are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Belgium:<\/strong> +20 %<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The United Kingdom and Ireland:<\/strong> +10 % each<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Interestingly, the UK achieved growth in spending despite a reduction in the number of events (\u20136 %), which suggests either a higher value per event or greater spending per visitor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-gdje-se-trosi-u-sklopu-dogadanja\">Where is it spent as part of the event<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The data shows that tourists travelling for events spend money in three main categories:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Food and drink<\/strong> 48,4 %<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hospitality (accommodation):<\/strong> 33 %<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Transport<\/strong> 18,6 %<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This schedule clearly shows that <strong>gastronomy has become a central element of the traveller's experience<\/strong> \u2014 whether it's for sporting events, concerts or trade fairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-sportska-dogadanja-i-izlozbe-kao-glavni-pokretaci\">Sports events and exhibitions as main drivers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tourist spending related to events is concentrated in a few key categories:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Sporting events<\/strong> 41.4 % total consumption<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Exhibitions and fairs<\/strong> 29,4 %<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/tragento.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Chart2-1-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7835\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tragento.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Chart2-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/tragento.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Chart2-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tragento.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Chart2-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/tragento.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Chart2-1-700x394.jpg 700w, https:\/\/tragento.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Chart2-1-539x303.jpg 539w, https:\/\/tragento.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Chart2-1.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Exhibitions grew most consistently during 2025, with the strongest increases in Belgium (+9.1 per cent), the Netherlands (+5.7 per cent) and Ireland (+4.5 per cent). In some countries such as Greece, Ireland and Sweden, <em>Sport<\/em> accounts for around 57 per cent of event-related spending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-razliciti-scenariji-rasta-diljem-europe\">Different growth scenarios across Europe<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The data reveals four main consumption growth models:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Comprehensive growth<\/strong> in almost all categories (e.g. France, UK, Spain).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Focus on sports and exhibitions<\/strong> even with a fall in other sectors (Austria, Greece, Ireland, Netherlands).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mixed trends<\/strong> (Sweden, Switzerland).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Emphasis on the MICE segment<\/strong> (conferences and exhibitions) in Italy, Belgium, and Germany.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-success wp-block-paragraph\"> Event-driven tourism in Europe continued its momentum in 2025, with spending growth of 7.1% and an ever-increasing role for events in shaping modern tourist experiences.
