The Dominican Republic is breaking tourism records. Tourism in Dominican Republic<\/a><\/strong> continues to set historical records \u2013 in the first eight months of 2025, 991,000 tourists visited the country. more than 8 million tourists<\/strong>. According to the Ministry of Tourism, this represents a growth of 49% compared to 2019.<\/strong>, 13% compared to 2023.<\/strong> and 2.81 times more than in 2024<\/strong>. A key contribution came from the strong recovery of cruise tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Record growth in air and cruise arrivals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

From January to August 2025, it was recorded:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • 6,085,053 air arrivals<\/strong> (+2% compared to 2024),<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1,920,204 cruise arrivals<\/strong>, what is 166% more than 2019.<\/strong>, 25% more than 2023.<\/strong> and 5% more than last year<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    In August, only by air arrived 707,175 passengers<\/strong>, Of which 569,665 are international tourists and 137,510 are passengers of Dominican origin. When cruise guests are also added, August ended with a total of 807,413 visitors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The most important markets and airports<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The main sources of tourists remain:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Canada \u2013 15%<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Argentina \u2013 6%<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Colombia \u2013 5%<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Puerto Rico \u2013 3%<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      The busiest airport remains Punta Cana (58% of all arrivals)<\/strong>, followed by Las Am\u00e9ricas (241 TP3T) and Cibao (131 TP3T). Other airports, such as Puerto Plata and La Romana, account for a smaller share.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The role of public-private sector partnerships<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      The growth in tourism is the result of strong cooperation between the state and the private sector. Investments in infrastructure, cruise terminals and the offering of various forms of tourism \u2013 from all-inclusive resorts to eco-tourism \u2013 have strengthened the country's position as one of the leading Caribbean destinations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Competitive advantages and future trends<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      The Dominican Republic stands out with its diverse offerings, favourable infrastructure, and adaptability to global trends. Special emphasis is placed on the growing segment cruising tourism<\/strong>, which attracts an increasing number of travellers in search of unique experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
