No, what does that actually mean, why is it important, and how do you get it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since 2018 <strong>IATA requires all accredited agencies to undergo PCI DSS certification.<\/strong>. Without it, you may face limitations when dealing with airlines and banks. Furthermore, this is not just another bureaucratic obligation \u2013 it is about protection <strong>your clients' data<\/strong>, avoiding potential fraud and ensuring the safety of your business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If all of this sounds complicated to you \u2013 don\u2019t worry! Below we bring <strong>simple guide<\/strong> who will explain how it all works and what you need to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u0160to je PCI DSS i koga se ti\u010de?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) je <strong>Global safety standard<\/strong> which ensures the protection of card payment data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your agency <strong>processes, handles or stores payment card data<\/strong>, then you are obliged to meet this standard. This applies to <strong>all agencies<\/strong> in Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and North Macedonia \u2013 regardless of size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Simply put: <strong>If you accept card payments, you must be compliant with the PCI DSS standard.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What does the certification process look like?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PCI DSS certification might sound complicated, but in reality, the process can be broken down into several <strong>concrete steps<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. Determine how \u201cbig\u201d you are\u201d<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are four levels of merchants, depending on the number of card transactions per year:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Level 1<\/strong> \u2013 More than 6 million transactions annually (large systems, OTA portals).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Level 2<\/strong> \u2013 1 to 6 million transactions per year (larger agencies).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Level 3<\/strong> \u2013 20,000 to 1,000,000 e-commerce transactions annually.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Level 4<\/strong> \u2013 Fewer than 20,000 e-commerce transactions annually (most agencies fall into this category).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are a small agency, <strong>The certification process will be much simpler and cheaper<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. Choose certification method<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ)<\/strong> \u2013 Smaller agencies can complete the questionnaire themselves and submit it to the bank or IATA.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Independent Audit (QSA Report)<\/strong> \u2013 Larger agencies must engage a qualified security assessor (QSA) who carries out a detailed inspection.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3. Introduce safety measures<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To meet the standard, you must implement certain data protection measures, such as:<br> Secure entry of card details (no paper records or safekeeping!)<br> Data encryption<br> Access control and stronger passwords<br> Regular security testing<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4. Perform security scans<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have online systems, you must conduct quarterly <strong>vulnerability scanning<\/strong> from authorised service providers (ASV).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>5. Complete and submit the documentation<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you are sure that you have implemented everything, you fulfil <strong>Attestation of Compliance (AOC)<\/strong> or submit documents to the bank or IATA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Price of PCI DSS certification <strong>views on the size of your agency and how it works<\/strong>:<br> <strong>Male agencies<\/strong> (Level 4) \u2013 \u20ac200 to \u20ac500 per year<br> <strong>Medium agencies<\/strong> \u2013 \u20ac2,000 to \u20ac10,000 per annum<br> <strong>Large agencies and OTA portals<\/strong> \u2013 \u20ac15,000 to \u20ac40,000 or more<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you use external payment services (e.g. a PCI DSS certified payment gateway), your certification can be simpler and cheaper!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>PCI DSS certification is carried out by Qualified Security Assessors (QSAs) and Approved Scanning Vendors (ASVs).<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are a small agency, you can carry out the certification <strong>independently<\/strong> through the SAQ questionnaire. However, if you require a professional audit, the following authorised QSA companies operate in the region:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>VikingCloud (SecureTrust)<\/strong> \u2013 IATA partner, offers a digital tool for PCI certification.<br><strong>Advantio<\/strong> A European company specialising in tourism security.<br><strong>SecurityMetrics<\/strong> \u2013 Provides SAQ tool and security scans.<br><strong>ECS (Croatia)<\/strong> - Local consulting services for PCI DSS.<br><strong>Deloitte, KPMG, PWC, Trustwave, Foregenix<\/strong> \u2013 International QSA audit providers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PCI DSS is not just an obligation, <strong>This is an investment in the security of your clients and your business.<\/strong>I believe you are all familiar with these processes and are likely all aware of the risks that are increasingly coming to the fore with the development of technology.
