This is by far the highest tourist intensity among the member states of the European Union. But the more interesting part of the story begins when we combine this figure with seasonality: more than half of Croatian nights are achieved only during July and August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to data published by Eurostat on October 16, the European average was seven nights per capita. Behind<a href=\"https:\/\/tragento.com\/en\/croatian-tourism-in-2025-was-marked-by-new-record-indicators\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"7802\"> Croatian<\/a> followed by Malta with 21.7, Cyprus with 19.4, Greece with 15.1 and Austria with 14.6 nights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Slovenia, for example, has 8.4 nights per capita.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the other end of the scale is Romania with only 1.6 nights, while Poland and Slovakia have 2.9 each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-sto-zapravo-govori-24-5-nocenja-po-stanovniku\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What does 24.5 nights per capita actually mean?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tourist intensity is not the same thing as the number of tourists, nor does it automatically mean that a country has a problem with overtourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eurostat compares the number of nights spent in tourist accommodation with the number of permanent residents. The indicator therefore well describes the tourist traffic in relation to the size of the local population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But there are also limitations. It does not include daily visitors, stays with friends and relatives, private vacation homes, or some smaller accommodation facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the figure of 24.5 in itself does not indicate that all of Croatia is overtaxed by tourism. Zagreb in February and Dubrovnik at the beginning of August are obviously not the same story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The problem becomes apparent when one looks at where and when these overnight stays are being made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-hrvatska-ima-jos-jedan-europski-rekord-sezonalnost\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Croatia has another European record \u2013 seasonality<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eurostat data for 2025 show that Croatia had the most pronounced tourist seasonality in the EU. As many as 54.5 percent of all annual nights were recorded in July and August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The EU average was 31.1 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In other words, Croatia simultaneously has the highest number of tourist overnight stays per capita and the highest concentration of that traffic in two summer months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here we already come to a question that is much more important for the tourism industry than the record itself: how much more can we grow in the same way?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The latest data for 2026 show that the geographical concentration has not changed significantly. According to eVisitor, from the beginning of the year to the end of September, 104.9 million overnight stays were recorded, of which as many as 100.5 million were in the Adriatic. The continent, including Zagreb, recorded 4.4 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/tragento.com\/en\/prices-of-package-holidays-in-the-eu-are-rising-32-plane-tickets-have-become-cheaper-the-region-shows-big-differences\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"12709\">These numbers are methodological<\/a> They are not directly comparable with the Eurostat indicator because eVisitor also includes non-commercial accommodation and nautical charter. However, the direction is quite clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-sljedeci-rast-nece-nuzno-doci-iz-jos-jednog-punijeg-kolovoza\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The next growth will not necessarily come from another fuller August<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For hotels, DMC\u2019s, tour operators and incoming agencies, this changes the way growth should be viewed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the most popular destinations are already very well filled in July and August, an additional few percentage points of traffic in that period can bring more pressure than actual added value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A much more interesting space opens up in April, May, September and October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Different products are also in demand. A guest outside the main season does not necessarily come for the same reasons as a family that books seven days at the seaside in August. Gastronomy, active holidays, culture, events, wellness, smaller destinations, and shorter thematic programs then play a greater role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For agencies, this is a concrete business opportunity. Extending the season is not just a destination strategy that is discussed at conferences. It can mean more sales periods, longer use of contracted capacities, and less dependence on a few summer weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the latest European data, Croatia apparently has no problem attracting guests. The bigger challenge is to distribute them throughout the year and across the country so that the next growth does not depend solely on whether we can accommodate several thousand more tourists in August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hrvatska je u 2025. ostvarila 24,5 turisti\u010dkih no\u0107enja u komercijalnom smje\u0161taju na svakog stanovnika.
