Dubrovnik passes three million overnight stays earlier than last year, US and Poland growing strongly
Croatia's tourist jewel, Dubrovnik is the three million nights threshold reached on 22 August, a day earlier than last year. Behind the stable overall result, the growth of the US and Polish markets stands out in particular.
Dubrovnik has recorded 3,000,099 overnight stays with 931,660 tourist arrivals from the beginning of the year to 22 August. Of the total traffic, foreign guests accounted for 2.86 million overnight stays, while domestic guests accounted for just over 137 thousand. The three-million overnight stays threshold was reached a day earlier than in 2025.
The result is interesting even in the wider context of the Croatian season. By the end of July, Croatia had recorded growth in arrivals and overnight stays of around one percent compared to last year, so Dubrovnik is for now following a stable national trend without major oscillations in total volume.
The US and Poland are increasing their share
The highest number of arrivals in Dubrovnik this year were achieved by guests from the United Kingdom and the United States of America. They are followed by France, Poland, Germany, Croatia, Spain, Ireland, Australia and Canada.
However, behind the overall figures, a change in the structure of demand is more visible. Since the beginning of the year, the American market has recorded nine percent more arrivals and overnight stays than last year. Poland is growing even faster, with 35 percent more arrivals and 33 percent more overnight stays.
For Dubrovnik's hotel and incoming travel sector, that is more important than the actual date of crossing the three million visitor mark. Market growth with diverse consumer profiles reduces the destination's reliance on a few traditionally dominant European countries.
Air accessibility remains the main mainstay
Dubrovnik is directly connected to 70 international destinations during the summer 2026 timetable. A special place is held by United Airlines' seasonal line between Dubrovnik and New York, or Newark, which supports the continued growth of the American market.
Such a network of lines gives Dubrovnik an advantage over Adriatic destinations that are more dependent on road transport. At the same time, it increases the importance of extending the flight schedule into spring and autumn. It is precisely the movement of traffic outside July and August that will better show how much growth can be turned into a longer season, rather than just an even stronger summer peak.
